Ivan Lai is a scientist turned lawyer turned notary. Once a researcher in a biochemistry laboratory in the University of British Columbia, Ivan eventually relocated to Hong Kong and became a commercial lawyer in one of Hong Kong’s largest law firms and later a legal consultant of a listed company. He had since returned to British Columbia where he was commissioned by the Supreme Court of Canada as a notary public.

Ivan speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Ivan's education:

 

  • Masters of Arts in Applied Legal Studies from the Simon Fraser University;

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong;

  • Graduate Diploma in English and Hong Kong Law from the Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom; and

  • Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia, with a double major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Psychology.
