WILLS & ESTATE PLANNING

A Will is a legal document that allows you to set out the distribution of your estate to designated beneficiaries after your death. For parents with minor children, a Will is especially important because it allows the appointment of guardians of your choice before your minor children become adults.

A recent survey shows that over 45% of British Columbians do not have a Will. If you pass away intestate (i.e. without a Will), you lose control over who gets how much of your estate. Instead, the Wills, Estates and Succession Act determines how your estate will be divided. You also give up the right to appoint a trustworthy executor to handle the distribution of estate and a suitable guardian to take over responsibility for your minor children upon your demise.

We are here to assist with your Will drafting to ensure your testamentary intentions are properly documented with legally binding effect. Please contact us to inquire about the process. You are also welcome to start the process by downloading, completing and returning to us our instruction questionnaire.
